Game Design for the Popularization of Astronomical Knowledge Part 1

2025年秋季学期本人与王萌老师、赵茁栋老师授课的《设计技术3》课程与上海天文馆合作完成教学,通过这门课程同学们掌握了数字游戏设计与开发的基本原理与核心技能,以合作方天文馆提供的“天文科普游戏”为题进行功能性游戏的设计,并基于Unity引擎完成了游戏原型的开发,以下为最终成果,敬请观赏:
In the Autumn semester of 2025, the Design Technology 3 was taught by me and Prof. Meng Wang and Teacher Zhuodong Zhao in collaboration with the Shanghai Astronomy Museum. In this course, the students learned the fundamental principles and essential skills for digital game design and development. They designed serious games based on the creative direction offered by our patterner, namely “game design for the popularization of astronomy knowledge”, and developed game prototypes with the Unity engine.

1. 潮汐遗民 · Ebb of the Legacy

《潮汐遗民》是以潮汐和异星探索为主题的建设模拟游戏,玩家扮演星际探索队,来到循汐星——一个依靠潮汐发展文明、然而在一次灾变后文明消逝的星球,在星球遗物——超级装置“潮汐时钟”的指引下,遵循潮汐节律,通过修建设施、发展岛屿,在探索星球的同时使潮汐文明重新繁荣。在这个过程中,玩家可以看到风格各具特色的岛屿,建设文明的独特设施,了解万有引力中与潮汐相关的天文知识。

Ebb of the Legacy is a construction and simulation game themed around tides and extraterrestrial exploration. Players take on the role of an interstellar expedition team arriving on Tidalis, a planet where civilization once thrived on tidal forces but vanished after a cataclysm.
Guided by the Tide Clock — a super-sized relic left by the vanished civilization — players follow the planet’s tidal rhythm, build facilities, develop islands, explore the world, and restore the long-lost tidal civilization to prosperity. Along the way, players can discover distinctively styled islands, construct unique civilization structures, and learn astronomical knowledge related to tides and universal gravitation.

2. 鼠道难 · RAT-A-TAT

《鼠道难》是一款以未来火星基地为背景的3D微观视角滚球冒险游戏。
2049年,陨石撞击导致基地人员被困室外,氧气即将耗尽,留守室内的航天实验小鼠C57BL/6小鼠成了最后的希望。游戏融合Marble Madness式物理平衡操作与独特温度-速度控制机制,通过沉浸式环境叙事与贴纸收集,致敬航天动物先行者并科普火星知识。玩家将操控鼠球在复杂的控制室桌面上穿行,获得神秘动物前辈力量,利用平衡惯性冲刺与温速控制收集动物贴纸,解锁档案,食取奶酪,最终抵达终点按下按钮拯救被困人类!鼠命必达!

RAT-A-TAT is a 3D micro-perspective rolling ball adventure game set in a future Mars base.
In 2049, a meteorite impact leaves the base crew trapped outside with rapidly depleting oxygen. C57BL/6, the space experiment mouse left inside, becomes humanity’s last hope. Combining Marble Madness-style physics-based balancing controls with a unique temperature-speed mechanic, the game uses immersive environmental storytelling and sticker collection to pay tribute to pioneering space animals and popularize Mars knowledge.
Players control the mouse ball across intricate control room desks, gain power from mysterious veteran animal pioneers, use inertial balancing and temperature-speed control to collect animal stickers, unlock archives, eat cheese, and finally reach the end to press the button and save the trapped humans! The mission must be accomplished in a mouse-style!

3. 残响 · Aftermath

《残响》是一款横版2.5D叙事探索游戏。玩家作为意外坠落的探索者,在引力异常的废墟星球中收集数据碎片,逐步揭开由天才科学家Z引发的能源灾难真相。游戏通过剧情视频、可回溯的事件与研究文本推进叙事,并在末日氛围与光影几何交织的美术风格中,构建出独特的解谜体验。最终,玩家的选择将导向“和解”或“升华”两种结局,完成对技术、创伤与文明的深层反思。

Aftermath is a 2.5D side-scrolling narrative exploration game. As an explorer who has crash-landed by accident, players collect data fragments on a ruined planet with abnormal gravity, gradually uncovering the truth behind an energy disaster caused by Z, a brilliant scientist.
The game advances its narrative through cutscenes, replayable events, and research texts, while offering a distinctive puzzle-solving experience with an art style that blends doomsday atmosphere with geometric light and shadow. In the end, players’ choices lead to one of two endings — “Reconciliation” or “Sublimation” — inviting deep reflection on technology, trauma, and civilization.

5. 星际回响 异星解码者 · Echoes of Humanity

《星际回响 异星解码者》是一款以他者视角反观人类文明本质的叙事解谜游戏。玩家将扮演一位来自外星文明的考古学家,在遥远的未来,于深空中发现人类于1977年搭载“旅行者号”发射的“金唱片”。唱片因年代久远而数据破损,你的任务是在其构建的虚拟环境中,通过交互提示、拼图修复、二进制解码等机制,逐步修复声音、图像与音乐片段。
随着修复进度的推进,你将一步步理解人类的情感、艺术、科学与记忆,最终在解码的过程中,与这个早已消失的文明产生跨越时空的共情。这不仅是一场数据的修复,更是一次对“人类何以为人”的沉浸式追问,从外星学者的眼中,重新看见我们自己。

Echoes of Humanity is a narrative puzzle game that reflects on the essence of human civilization from an outsider’s perspective.
Players take on the role of an archaeologist from an alien civilization. In the distant future, you discover the Golden Record launched into deep space in 1977 aboard the Voyager spacecraft. Time has damaged its data, and your mission is to gradually restore fragments of sound, images, and music within its constructed virtual environment through interactive clues, puzzle repair, binary decoding, and other mechanics.
As restoration progresses, you will come to understand human emotions, art, science, and memory step by step. In the end, the decoding process lets you empathize across time and space with this long‑lost civilization. This is not merely a data recovery mission, but an immersive inquiry into what it means to be human—reseeing ourselves through the eyes of an extraterrestrial scholar.
